Department of Ethnography, Literature, and Cultural-public events
The Department of Ethnography, Literature and Cultural-public events was firstly created in 1982 as an ethnography department and worked until 1998. In 1998-2004 it was renamed as the department of Arystanbab and Ethnography. Since January 2005 it was transformed into ethnography department and lasted until 2018.
In 2018, it was renamed to the Department of Ethnography, Literature and Cultural-public events and continues working on a regular basis. Nowadays the Department of Ethnography, Literature and Cultural-public events department includes the head of the department Zhumashova A.A, 2 senior researchers, 3 researchers, 2 research assistants.
They work according to the approved plan. The Department of Ethnography, Literature and Cultural-public events is engaged in scientific-research, collection, storage, scientific expedition, scientific research, scientific exposition, scientific publishing works and etc.
Employees of the department are also engaged in writing scientific works, promoting them to the public, participate in scientific field expeditions, business trips and collect exhibits on the basis of ethnographic data. The Department of Ethnography, Literature and Cultural-public events conducts the scientific research of sources about traditions, applied art, life, crafts, material monuments and spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people.
The Department of Ethnography, Literature and Cultural-public events for the purpose of scientific research, collects the precious heritage of the past, examines the current state of the local population, conducts propaganda of historical and cultural monuments, traditions and performs the following works:
- Research collected ethnographic and folklore materials in the museum;
- Conducting research in the chosen direction;
- Participates in scientific expeditions, business trips with the aim of collecting monuments of antiquity among the local population organized by the museum;
- Collects scientific literature on museology, traditions, applied art, life, crafts, material monuments and the spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people;
- Research and promote ethnographical heritage of the Otrar oasis;
- Research and promote craft masters of the Otrar oasis;
- Provide co-ordinating seminars, conferences with the museum staff, craft masters, ethnographers, historians, archaeologists;
- Providing instruction, teaching the lectures on ethnography, folklore of the Kazakhs in schools, colleges;
- Participate in the international and national conferences, seminars, forums and other events held in universities, schools, institutions;
- Organize various scientific and cultural events;
- Facilitate the exchange of experience among museums;
- Publish articles on the ethnography and folklore, on the history of Kazakhstan in scientific journals;
- Conduct a study of ethnographic materials located in the museum;
- Conduct scientific and educational propaganda of cultural heritage through the media;
